About me

About me

My name is Mario José Oliva Castillo, founder of Oliva Photography Studio in Trieste, Italy. I specialize in family, wedding, and event photography, creating authentic and timeless images that preserve meaningful moments and genuine connections.
I was born and raised in Guatemala and have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since I was eight years old. After serving a mission in the Peru Lima North Mission, I moved to the United States, where I attended the English Language Center at Brigham Young University. Later, my wife and I lived in Spain before settling in Italy, where she was born and raised.
As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I understand the importance of documenting sacred moments, family relationships, and Church events with professionalism, reverence, and discretion..
My experiences living in different countries and cultures have shaped the way I approach photography and people. They have taught me to appreciate the beauty found in everyday moments and the value of every individual’s story.
Over the years, I have photographed weddings and events throughout Italy, as well as in Switzerland and Slovenia. I have worked with clients from many countries, including Spain, Austria, Germany,  Norway, Balkans Area, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa, the United States, and Latin America. I am fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish.
As a husband, father, and photographer, I understand the importance of preserving life’s most meaningful moments. Whether documenting a family milestone, a wedding celebration, or a community event, my goal is always the same: to create images that tell a story and bring light to what matters most.
